Smart thermostat knows when we’re home

I’ve always been amazed with modern technology and the continual advancements we’re making as a whole.

I can remember the days of early cell phones and the infancy of the internet, and it’s hilarious to me that there are kids who don’t know what it’s like to have to go to the library to find the answer to any question.

I’m so impressed by these strides in technology that I can’t even fathom some of the most recent advancements. For instance, I recently moved into a home that came equipped with a smart thermostat. I had heard of this technology before and knew about some of the features, such as the ability to connect to an app on your PC or phone. Using this software, you can adjust the temperature of your home from anywhere, anytime. This saves a us a ton of money when our schedules change unexpectedly and we need to turn off the air conditioner or furnace remotely. However, I had no idea that the smart thermostat included another new feature which we only recently discovered; the temperature control unit has the ability to automatically shut off our central heating and cooling units by detecting that we are not home. The system is tapped into motion sensors around the house, and can power down the HVAC equipment when the house is deemed empty. We’ve employed this impressive feature for the past few weeks now without any negative complications, and I can’t wait to see what this new technology does for reducing our energy bills!
