Wasn’t dressed appropriately – heat was up too high to hide it

Last week was quite a roller coaster for me.

Every day seems like it brought new surprises and challenges that could never have been anticipated.

It was supposed to be a lighthearted and fun couple of days, but instead it was stressful and strenuous all the way through. Last week when Halloween was approaching, I was extremely excited to do some spooky activities and wear a fun costume. When that night rolled around, the circumstances were not appropriate for a fun and lighthearted time. Instead, my boyfriend got sick and I spent the entire night playing nurse. The next morning, I woke up in a daze and barely managed to make it to work. To be honest, I wasn’t prepared to be in a professional setting. I was trying to hide my inappropriate clothing underneath layers of sweaters and jackets for the office setting. Unfortunately, when I walked into the office, the thermostat was cranked up to 80 degrees. It felt like summer time in the small, hot and humid space. I asked my boss what was going on with the HVAC settings and he cheerily replied that the heating system needed to be professionally inspected. He said the furnace had been stuck on all morning, and he was hoping I would call out an HVAC technician to make immediate repairs. I started calling HVAC companies, but couldn’t stand to the oppressive heat in the office. I had no choice but to take off my layers and reveal my inappropriate work attire underneath. Luckily, my boss was paying no attention, as usual. When the heating and cooling specialist finally arrived, however, he looked me up and down and asked if it was still Halloween.
