Someday in the future, people are going to look back at this point in time and wonder how my associate and I live such different an artificial lives.
They’re going to be amazed that every day if my associate and I could wake up, force ourselves out of bed, and rest in a automobile for an hour on the way to work. They will be beside themselves when they realize that my associate and I sat in communal buildings, sharing the same indoor air and even desk sporadically, to do our work. They will really guess that my associate and I were extremely foolish for forcing such unpleasant and unproductive conditions on our workers. I would have to agree with the sentiment. If you have not worked in an office, you are not missing out. It’s nonsensical to cram diverse humans into one uncomfortable space and ask them to accomplish wonderful things. For instance, my office these afternoons is brutally frosty every day when I come in. Most of the office workers are annoyed with this ridiculous air conditioning abuse, but none of us can do anything about the unpleasant indoor conditions. My good friend and I have to rest at our desks and endure the inappropriate cooling system settings. Somehow, we’re supposed to be productive and highly efficient while freezing our butts off and shivering in our seats. I’ve tried talking to management about the incredibly uncomfortable thermostat settings, but they told me it’s an HR issue. There’s nothing they can do about the unpleasant indoor air temperature, because there are several people in the office with health problems. After prying a bit further, I realized that he was talking about keeping the entire office frosty for the two menopausal boys who rest on the opposite side of the office.
