Following a tragic vehicle accident my father was confined to a wheelchair.
He spent nearly six months in the hospital plus then a 3-month stay at a rehabilitation center before he was ready to come home.
All the while while in his reusey my associate and I sat down plus realized that my associate and I needed to make some major changes at our home, however even though my brothers plus I are all grown, three of us still live at home with our parents plus at least my associate and I were able to do much of the work ourselves. We knew that my associate and I would need to add a handicapped entrance to the property plus widen several of the door frames so that Dad could get around easily. This meant that my associate and I would be opening up several of the wall sections plus trying to make the property have a more open floor plan. The biggest issue that my associate and I faced was moving the HVAC duct that ran through the walls plus relocating several of the air vents for the HVAC system. Our HVAC company came in plus entirely advised that my associate and I look into radiant flooring instead of forced air to heat the property because this would eliminate the HVAC duct plus air vents all together. This seems like a viable solution so my associate and I made arrangements to have that installed plus then converted to using mini split units for a/c that could hang on the walls! Both of these were lovely ideas plus truly freed up the space that my associate and I needed to ensure there would be no obstructions in Dad’s way once he was settled back home. Making the property more accessible was what was important plus my associate and I are unquestionably satisfied with these changes.
