The kids and I really enjoy making cookies.
- Sometimes we spend all day just making cookies.
We do this especially around Christmas time. I turn the oven on to preheat it and we make all the dough for all the cookies. Then we bake all the cookies. However during this time the house gets very warm. The house gets so warm from the oven being turned on. So I actually have to go to the thermostat and turn the heat down. I need to turn the heat down so it actually evens out the heat that is in the house. It saved me that little bit of energy that I have to pay on my bills that month. It saves me some energy because I am not paying for the HVAC system to run while we are baking cookies. The oven is actually heating my home instead of the HVAC system. This makes me feel really comfortable inside of my home. I tend to think that the house is a little chilly during the winter. I like to turn the heat up pretty high. However my husband does not like the heat to be turned up that high. So I am not allowed to touch the thermostat to turn up the heat. By not turning up the heat it also allows us to save some money. So I usually walk around in some sweaters. However cookie baking day is probably one of my favorite days. This is a day where I do not have to walk around in a sweater because the house gets so warm. And I do not even have to pay for my HVAC system to run. I just have to let the oven run to warm my house.
