If you ask me, it’s the small gestures in life that make all the difference. I never want to be with somebody who is continually showering me with gifts and affection if none of it is relevant to who I am as a human. For instance, if you bring home flowers everyday I’m just going to be angry rather than impressed. I would much rather have some kind of a functional gift that is relevant to who I am as a human than a very basic and foolish present. That being said, I think the best gift I’ve ever received has been my monthly air filter change. I know that this sounds like a very small task, but this air filter service is something that I consistently forget about. I’m definitely not very reliable when it comes to my heating, cooling, and air quality control maintenance. This is a big problem because I have severe allergies that affect my everyday life if I do not take care of my indoor air quality. I really need to have clean, high quality air circulating through my central heating and cooling system if I want to live happily and healthily. However, it’s really expensive to rely on a professional HVAC technician for these basic indoor air quality services. I have never been the sort of person who’s going to call my HVAC dealership to inquire about a routine service contract or extra expenses to improve my air quality. When my boyfriend surprised me with HEPA air filters one day and began performing the HVAC maintenance service without me asking, I nearly proposed to him right on the spot.
