Now that it’s in place in the living room, we won’t be moving it
The living room in my house is huge. It is part of a very open floor plan and the ideal area for family and friends to gather. We utilize the living room for watching television and movies, playing video games and board games, relaxing, reading and entertaining. I want the room to be accessible, comfortable and attractive. I was not happy with game controllers, cords, electronic components, puzzles, games, books and all sorts of stuff lying all over the floor. When I packed them into various totes, it was difficult to find things and didn’t look all that nice. When I shopped for an entertainment center, I realized that nothing available suited my specifications. The options I found were too small, didn’t provide sufficient storage and were poorly constructed. Most of the entertainment centers for sale at local furniture stores are made out of pressboard and veneers. I finally contacted a custom furniture builder. He was wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful. He asked me questions and made suggestions. Because of his assistance, I was able to come up with a design and dimensions that fit the layout of the living room, satisfied my preferences and accommodated our storage requirements. Along with choosing the height, width and depth, I was able to be particular about shelving, drawers and hardware. It took a while for the entertainment center to be completed. Every aspect of the piece was constructed by hand. I was amazed by how heavy the entertainment center is. Now that it’s in place in the living room, we won’t be moving it. I plan to keep it forever. I just love it.
