I also didn’t know that there are multiple routes that you can go if you install or a repair an HVAC system. There are two stage compressors and then there are variable speed motors. These two technologies help keep my energy bills down. Two stage compressors have two stages of cooling. This means that the air conditioner or heat pump consists of two levels of operation. When it’s extremely hot it will run and it will also run on milder days when it doesn’t need to run that hard. In normal central cooling and heating systems, the fan motor will run at one speed. Whereas with variable speed motors, it uses control technology that that changes speed based on the heating and cooling that is programmed on your thermostat.
