Unsure when to start a/c

Moving from the north east to the south was a very hard transition for me. All of my family lives in the Northeast. I have a feeling that it’s going to be hard on holiday’s especially around Christmas to go back up north and celebrate with them. I hope that there are some Christmas’ where they will come and visit me in the south. I’ll use the excuse to come escape the snow to experience the warm weather. There are some major transitions from moving to warm weather since I’m now using my air conditioner more than my furnace. I have a humidifier, whereas in my old home I didn’t have a humidifier that went with my HVAC system. I was even unsure when to turn the AC on. I would wait until it got too hot in my home. I would turn my fans off and then turn the AC on. However I did enjoy going to the beach in the middle of December. I decided to call an HVAC provider to talk to them about my new HVAC system. I asked them when I should be turning on my air conditioner and they said I should set my programmable thermostat to 75. He said once the temperature in my house goes past 75 then the air conditioning will kick on. I was very lucky to have good experience with this HVAC provider. I didn’t want to spend any more money or waste energy on using my air conditioner when it wasn’t needed.
