For the past two weeks my dog has been off when I pick them up from Doggy Daycare.
I really have no choice but to drop him off because I work 10-hour days and I would feel bad leaving him home alone the entire time but something isn’t quite right of late. He always enjoyed going to the facility. He doesn’t seem excited to do that anymore either. I dropped him off and he reluctantly goes with the attendant and then when I pick him up he doesn’t seem himself. He seems very tired and has little interest in even playing with a toy when he gets home and that is just not his normal. Of course, when I asked the staff about this they just say that they haven’t really noticed anything. I decided to drop in and make a surprise visit to see for myself what is going on. When I got there no one was having fun so I headed to the back to say hello to my dog. As I opened the room to the back of the facility I was met with a wall of hot air and it was so stuffy I felt like I couldn’t breathe. The facility is supposed to have a full heat and air conditioning system to make sure that our pets are comfortable throughout the day but that didn’t seem to be the case. I thought to myself it wasn’t that surprising that my dog was so exhausted by the end of the day and all he wanted to do was sleep in my air conditioned home. One of the staff members told me that the HVAC system has been broken for a few weeks and they really didn’t have the funds to fix it. I told them that I would be looking for a new place because they should have told me about the problem and not made my dog feel bad for all that time.
